Love.

Love.

Love this bittersweet thing is the key to our existence, to our survival. It’s the thing people are ready to die for, to do things they’ve probably never done before.
Love; it gives you butterflies, when you see them smile. You are comforted when the embrace you, reassured when they listen to you and cry when you miss them. You talk for hours together, laugh at the stupidest of things. The little things matter the most, and the memories are cherished the most. They become the reason you smile, the reason you get out of your bad mood. Time and energy put together nurtures this, and then comes a beautiful relationship. I know you all must be thinking of that someone, and I will tell you this; ‘that someone’ can be absolutely anyone. It could be your best friend, your girlfriend, your boyfriend, your sister absolutely anyone.
Love is so rare nowadays, in fact a lot of the times, it is also taken in the wrong context. Its not about doing something for someone and expecting something in return. Its about doing something for someone because seeing them smile makes you happy. Its about listening to them even when you have a busy schedule. Its about supporting them through everything and listening to them when they need it the most. Love isn’t about how many pictures you’ll have together, its about how many stories you’ll share, how many memories you’ll make.
They say don’t count your life by the number of days, but by the number of memories you make; and I completely agree with that. When you look back at your life, you will remember your friends, your loved ones, and not the number of times they invited you to a party, or the number of people you knew in high school. Love is the close group of friends that you share with everything, the first people you want to tell everything to. That is what matters in the end. Deep friendships, relationships and connections, that is what matters. I can’t help but notice that we live in a world, where people are misled to believe that the more popular you are, the more accomplished you are and that is not true. If you aren’t popular does not mean that you are not loved. You may not be loved widely, but you are loved deeply.
Yes, everyone likes to be known, even I do. But my close group friends, and the love that we share makes me happy. Travelling with my family makes me happy. Singing in the car to Little Mix makes me happy. The excitement on the way to a concert makes me happy. Knowing that they’ll be there for me makes me happy. And all of this makes me happy because it is done with an intention to form deeper connections, and not just because everyone does it. These little things nurture the love, and this is the love that keeps this world strong. This the kind of love everyone needs. The kind of love that understands the other just by a change in their voice or how they didn’t type the extra y or the fact that they added a full stop.
Love has the power to change this world. It has the power to bring people together, it has the power to understand the world and the people in it. Love has the power to change people and I think that is the most beautiful thing ever. It is the strongest emotion according to me. That is why we need more of this in today’s world. It’s about time we become a little more vulnerable and show people who we are and that we actually care. I know it’s hard, but it’s needed. Love is what will make the world a better place. Hatred and negativity is never the answer. It just drains you out, and leaves you feeling empty. On the other hand, a small gesture of love can leave you satisfied for days.
But here’s something; maybe, just maybe there is no such thing as hatred, maybe its just the absence of love, just like darkness is simply the absence of light. And if that is the case, then just like the tiniest bit of light can illuminate a dark place, the same way a tiny bit of love could change a stone cold heart. Now, that is something.

Love,

Arushi.
